Sermons on the Book of Galatians

Let's "Get Into Galatians." Below you'll find a series of sermons based on this NT book
that reveals true Gospel freedom.

1)
Galatians 1:1-9.  Even in Paul's polite greeting to the Galatians we see that he was
prepared to defend his role (as an Apostle) in order to defend the Gospel as being for all
peoples.
2)
Galatians 1:10-24. Paul found it necessary to respond to critics who questioned his
motives. If they succeeded in discrediting Paul, they might have turned people away from
the Gospel. Paul insisted that he wasn't trying to please people but God. We do well to
check our own motives. Are we living to impress our peers or to please Christ?
3)
Galatians 2:1-10. Paul recounted more of his conversion story to verify his role (a true
Apostle) and to affirm that the Gospel is both from God and for the whole world.
4)
Galatians 2:11-16. Imagine how tense the situation was when the Apostle Paul
publicly rebuked the Apostle Peter! What prompted Paul to do this? Why did he write
about this incident in his letter to the Galatians? For the sake of the true Gospel.
5)
Galatians 2:17-21. Some of these verses sound like double-talk: crucified and yet
alive; dead and yet living by faith! Listen and find out what these vivid contrasts teach us
about true Christian freedom.
6)
Galatians 3:1-14. "Cursed, Redeemed and Justified"  There's nothing like the Gospel
truth to keep the church on track. Listen and learn more about the Gospel of the Crucified
One.
7)
Galatians 3:15-29.  If salvation is by grace through faith, why did God give His people
so many laws at Mt. Sinai? This message explores this question as it proclaims the Good
News of freedom in Christ.
8)
Galatians 4:1-20. Good news! In Christ, we are not slaves (to legalism) but children
and heirs (justification by faith).
9)
Galatians 4:21-31. In this text, the Apostle Paul pressed the point that in Christ we are
free to inherit eternal life by referring to the story of Abraham, Sarah and Hagar. In Christ
we are "Children of the Free Woman".
10)
Galatians 5:1-14. What's the difference between the Gospel and other world
religions? Through the Gospel we are "Set Free to Live In Freedom."
11)
Galatians 5:13-26. These verses teach us that we are free in Christ, not to live as we
please (acts of the sinful nature), but to bear the fruit of the Spirit. It's a struggle, but what
a blessed, God-glorifying struggle!
12)
Galatians 6:1-6. Here we learn that in Christ we're free to live as the family of God.
This includes restoring those who fall into sin, sharing each other's burdens, etc.
13)
Galatians 6:7-10. The Apostle Paul borrowed an illustration from agriculture to help
us understand that in Christ we're free to serve by doing good to all. Listen to learn more
about the Law of the Harvest.
14)
Galatians 6:11-18. When it comes to being right with God, we don't need more rules
to try to obey. We need new hearts. The Apostle Paul summed this up when he said,
"...what counts is a new creation..."
