| Welcome! Thanks for visiting this page. Day 10. We are home! We took a different route to avoid the detours where I-29 was closed (south of St. Joseph, MO and south of Missouri Valley, IA). Our route took us through central Iowa up to Des Moines, up to Albert Lea, MN, and then to Luverne. The new route also allowed us to stop by the home of Heidi Uilk's grandmother, who lives near Leon, IA. Thanks, grandma, for the cookies and for letting us use the "facilities"! Once again we are grateful for traveling mercies. Looking back on the 2011 Cary Serve adventure, we see how God blessed our efforts all along the way. We hope to share a report during/after the AM service of July 10. In the meantime, if you want to see some additional pictures, click here. I will add more in a few days. Pastor Sparks Days 7-9. Wednesday through Friday. It's hard to believe how quickly the week of Vacation Bible School went. Attendance remained consistently strong. We here happy to have a good turnout, including parents, at the closing program on Thursday evening. Thanks again for your prayers. We trust that God will work through His Word, which we shared with so many boys and girls, to accomplish His plan in their lives. Work projects also continued to occupy much of our time. At this writing we are in Booneville, Missouri. We had a very good day of travel -- very few delays and no mechanical troubles. Tommorrow, DV, we will arrive back home in Minnesota. Once again, thank you for your prayers! Day 6. Tuesday. We had another busy day. The work groups painted, prepped a couple of rooms in a house for painting, built picnic tables, and worked on the sand volleyball court at the Cary Christian Center. VBS attendance was strong again. We give thanks for each child and young person who present, praying that God will use us to make positive differences in their lives. Day 5. Monday. We had first full day of work projects and VBS. We were happy to have more than 40 attend VBS today! That's more than we usually have this early in the week, so we're off to a good start! Pray that we will be able to communicate to them the life-changing truths of the Gospel. Oh... the weather was really HOT today! Day 4. Sunday. We attended the Mt. Herald Baptist church in Rolling Fork. We were happy to renew our acquaintance with Pastor Young and members of the congregation. This afternoon we went back to Rolling Fork to set up for the VBS kickoff carnival. Attendance was excellent! We've never had that many children attend the carnival. We're looking forward to a good week! Day 3. We arrived safely at the Cary Christian Center and unloaded the trailer and vehicles. After supper we went to Rolling Fork and walked through some of the neighborhoods passing out candy and invitations to VBS. Our Carnival kickoff is tomorrow afternoon. We hope some of the contacts we made this evening will bear fruit throughout the week. Please keep lifting us up in prayer. Day 2. We spent quite a few hours in travel today. Had to make a couple of extra stops due to carsickness. Thankfully everyone who was ill felt much better soon. We stopped at Lambert's for a big meal this afternoon. Won't need to have supper tonight! Thanks for your prayers! Here's a photo of the group after we ate at Lambert's. Tomorrow -- on to Cary! Day 1. Thanks to Josh Van Engen for leading our devotions when we left church this morning. We had a safe day of travel, arriving in Grain Valley, MO about 6:30 PM. We were glad to get through I-29 before it was shut down due to flooding south of Missouri Valley. |
